(TUESDAY 3/1/16)
We didn't have school yesterday, and today was spent watching the movie Spare Parts. So rather than writing about lightsabers, I will now review the movie Spare Parts.
...
It's good.

(WEDNESDAY 3/2/16)
We spent the bulk of our time today working on the hilt, and finally... IT'S DONE!
As you can see, the finish is pretty damn excellent. (Minus some streaks, but we can polish those off.) We spent most of our time simply trying to get the lip to an exact 1.3in OD, we had some trouble with the tool almost touching the spinning center, but it ended up fine in the end. Now we've got the blade guard to work on... Anyway, here are some videos of us finishing and parting the hilt.
(THURSDAY 3/3/16)
We only had half an hour to work today, we had a fitness test directly after this. However, we did get the basic blade guard shape cut. We'll use tomorrow to get the thing sanded and flush with the hilt.
(Friday 3/4/16)
We went through the tedious process of using the belt sander to do at least a hundred passes through the angles on the guard to make the shape flush and flat with the cut; there was however one major issue with doing so many passes, the damned thing got really hot! (even through those work gloves!)
The solution to this: (and I sincerely cannot believe that Harrison and I didn't think of this on our own.) Dump the thing into a glass of water!
Well, now that the blade guard is more or less in its final form, I guess the only thing left for this saber is the pommel. We're trying to thread the inside of the bottom of hilt so the pommel can screw in, but we don't have the single-point threading lathe tool necessary for this. Scott ordered it but he won't be here at school all of next week, so we'll probably have to hold off on threading till he gets back. We'll probably get started on the other two hilts on monday.
Here's to getting this project done next week!
