What is the purpose of the rocket project?
This project is meant to re-inspire the dream of the future, as astrophysicist Neil Degrasse Tyson put it, "Nobody's dreaming about tomorrow anymore," This project aims to teach us about the sciences of vertical arrow dynamics, while helping us understand the scientific concepts using math.
Prototype #1:
This. Prototype. Sucked.
My first rocket, along with many of the first rockets made by the class, failed terribly. The rocket was made out of nothing but white printer paper with a plastic cap at the nose to keep air flowing vertically. This is where the rocket's biggest flaw got the better of it. The hot-glue seal keeping the cap in place had shot itself upward, jettisoning itself from the rocket itself. (It did make some pretty good air though.)
